My name is Peace Lily. I am from the genus Spathiphyllum, which is a Latin word that means "peace and
As you know that, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in collaboration with
Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA) carried out Clean Air Study and selected me as one
of the best Indoor air purifying plants.
I love to absorb and eliminate toxic chemicals such as formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, benzene,
acetone, and ammonia from the air. I reduce the levels of mold spores that grow in the home by
absorbing those spores through my leaves and digest them by photosynthesis.
All I need is a little water and your care. I love to be on your table top, close to your laptop or desktop. I
don’t need sunlight to grow. The best care you could give is to water me attentively. You could spray me
30 ml (6 table spoon) of water in every two days or 60 ml of water in every four days. If you neglect to
water and see me wilted and drooped, please spray around 80 ml of water over my leaves and root. I
don’t need water for the next 4 days, I will be alright by then. I would like you to remove my old leaves
which become yellow.
Too much water will rot my root and this is too dangerous to me. Over-watering can be slightly harder
to diagnose. However, the tip of my leaves will get colored differently most probably brown, if I have
excess water in my pot. In this case, wait for the soil to dry out completely and water me only when I
I am happy to live in the same pot for a year. You may need to change my pot and soil after a year.
